We are looking for temporary assistance in the installation of indoor holiday displays.
A holiday installer assisted in the delivery, installation, and removal of decorated pieces for clients such as wreaths, garlands, sconces, and other coordinating pieces from client sites.
This position can be full-time or part-time temporary during the month of November and into early December. This work requires good vision, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting and the ability to work all day in varying warehouse and office conditions.

The technician supports the holiday department with the fabrication and repair of holiday products, boxing and storing decorated pieces for our clients such as wreaths, trees, garlands, sconces, and other coordinating pieces This job may assist in the preparation, delivery, installation, and removal of products to/from client locations. Most workdays will be spent in the fabrication department assisting with design and fabrication. This position requires an organized person with flexibility in the work schedule.

This position requires someone who is highly organized, self-motivated, works well with others and is quality focused. Will lead crews and work closely with several outdoor plant care technicians/holiday installers. This job requires travel to job sites and corporate offices. Driving in inclement weather may be required. Exposure to heat/cold may occur both in the warehouses as well as during the loading/unloading process. Many physical activities such as reaching, climbing, bending, squatting, lifting/carrying, pushing and pulling are also required.
Responsibilities Include but not limited to:
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships, manage customer concerns in a timely fashion per the Growing Green Way – call back within the hour, problem resolution within 24 hours – clear communication with manager and Kim to resolution.
- Be an effective crew leader for both holiday and exterior installations assisting in training to do things the Growing Green way, (doing a quality job correctly the first time).
- Assist in keeping the area inside the dock and exterior tool room neat and organized.
- Assist with exterior schedule, orders, installs, and install/maintenance crews
- Assist with holiday schedule, installations/takedowns, and lead crews
- Assist and attend bi-weekly meetings with the exterior/holiday team for continuing education, team building, department updates and schedule sharing.

Our outdoor department consists of containers, beds, rooftop gardens and streetscapes. A successful candidate will have knowledge of Spring, Summer and Fall annuals as well as perennials, shrubs and trees that Growing Green uses on an on-going basis. Leading the crews on planting jobs or other job sites is expected. Overtime is expected through the months of May and into June and other times of the year as required.
Exterior Crew Leader Responsibilities Include:
- Read and be familiar with paperwork and recipes, in order to effectively lead the team on installations by clear communication of the work to be done in the timeframe given.
- Track and account for materials used on the jobsite, and time taken for job completion, turn into Exterior Manager daily.
- Ensure installation team members have appropriate materials needed for service and installation projects. (Assist in managing container arrival, plant orders, hard goods, tools/equipment and managing on-time delivery of all products).
- At the beginning of each job, walk through the property with the team and delegate tasks to each person. Supply them with the tools and knowledge they need to perform the installation safely and correctly. Be available to answer questions and coach the team.
- Encourage the “Do it right the first time” attitude in all team members
- Perform water routes during growing seasons.
- Assist with pickup of plant material from local sources.
- Assist in receiving plant deliveries at Growing Green and on-site.
Requirements:
- 1 year minimum residential and/or commercial landscape construction experience.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with clean DMVR and current auto insurance coverage.
- Must be self-motivated and possess strong leadership skills.
- Must be professional in appearance and actions.
- Must be detail oriented and quality driven.
- Must be well organized with strong communication skills and ability to multitask.
- Must have the ability to think proactively, plan ahead and problem solve assisting Foreman with minimizing disruption, errors, risks and keeping project on-task, within budget and on-time.
- Absolute essential ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must take ownership of the team, their work and own the responsibilities of making sure things are done accurately and to the complete satisfaction of the customer.
- Previous crew leader experience preferred.
The holiday department includes installing and storing decorated pieces for our clients such as wreaths, trees, garlands, sconces and other coordinating pieces. Assistance to the sales department for installation consultation regarding tools needed, lifts recommended, etc. is expected. This position requires an organized person with flexibility in the work schedule. Overtime is expected through the months of November and December for holiday installations and in January for holiday takedowns.
Holiday Crew Leader Responsibilities Include:
- Thoroughly review the installation folder with the team at the beginning of the day to make sure you have all of the tools, and materials needed for the job. Consult the photos and information sheets within the folder to formulate any questions you may have for the holiday manager.
- At the beginning of each job, walk through the property with the team and delegate tasks to each person. Supply them with the tools and knowledge they need to perform the installation safely and correctly.
- Ensure the truck is stocked each day with all of the tools, materials and supplies needed for that day including a stocked tool-box, cords, lights, skirts, ladders, the red folders, all boxes needed for the day and any other materials needed.
- Ensure all team members know what accounts are being installed that day and in what order. Any team members following the truck should have client address information.
- Ensure the truck gets loaded in the correct order of installation and in a safe manner.
- Problem solve on-site with the team for any issues that arise.
- Maintain direct communication with the Exterior/Holiday Manager
- Encourage the “Do it right the first time” attitude in all team members.

Growing Green’s exterior horticulture position requires a motivated and enthusiastic person for our landscape maintenance, street beautification, container installations and maintenance, and holiday installation crew. Growing Green does not install hardscapes, mow, or remove snow – we install seasonal container gardens/plants, offer light landscape maintenance services, and get involved with a variety of unique planting concepts including vertical gardens. We get to work outdoors every day, regardless of the weather. Many physical activities such as reaching, climbing, bending, squatting, lifting/carrying, pushing, and pulling are also required.
General Responsibilities:
- Install seasonal plants in containers or annual beds for residential & and commercial clients (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Christmas greens)
- Regular landscape maintenance: pruning, mulching, weeding, trimming, and seasonal clean-ups
- Maintain containers on a maintenance route (watering, fertilizing, weeding, pruning)
- Install and takedown holiday decor (trees, garlands, etc.) during the holiday season in commercial settings.
- Install interior plants/green walls in commercial settings.
- Assist with unique and special plant projects as needed.

Plant Care:
Keep our exterior streetscapes healthy and gorgeous all the time, so they add value to our client’s property.
Know your stuff:
- Learn plant and weed identification.
- Learn to identify and treat pests.
- Proper planting techniques for annuals, perennials, shrubs, and small trees
- Maintenance process: watering, hand weeding, fertilizing, raking, pruning, sucker removal, deadheading, mulching
- Be aware of how the environment affects the care process.
- Obtain pesticide license within 90 days (about 3 months) of employment.
- Stay ahead of horticultural problems.
Pesticide Applicator’s License:
All our staff members are required to obtain their pesticide applicator’s license within the first 90 days (about 3 months) of employment. Growing Green provides all the study materials needed to prepare for the test and pays for the test itself. Once you pass both tests, you will be eligible for a raise.
The Horticultural Service Technician is responsible for maintaining plants assigned to their care. On a structured schedule and within an allotted time frame, the technician maintains interior foliage plants by using accepted horticultural techniques.
Horticultural Service Technicians must have a reliable personal vehicle available each work day for transportation to the accounts. Vehicle liability insurance and a valid drivers’ license are to be in place at all times. Mileage compensation will be provided.
Essential Functions of the Job
Must be able to lift 10 lb. water buckets and/or push 40-50 lb. water machines throughout the day. Must be able to climb ladders and have good dexterous use of both hands. Must be able to use scissors, pruners, hand saws, hoses and other small tools. Must be able to apply leaf cleaners and insecticides using hand-held pump sprayers. Must have a satisfactory safe driving record. Must be able to professionally communicate with clients and have a neat and clean appearance.
This is strenuous work requiring good vision, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and the ability to work all day in varying greenhouse and/or office conditions.
